At Ballina Denture Clinic, we provide premium dentures for patients throughout Ballina and surrounding areas, including Byron Bay, Lismore, Alstonville, Lennox Head and Bangalow. So, what is a premium denture? Premium dentures, as opposed to traditional dentures, look more like a patient’s natural tooth because there are more shades and moulds to choose from. Premium dentures are also made with higher-quality materials, meaning they last longer and allow the patient to chew better. In order to fit a premium denture, we use a technique called BPS (Biofunctional Prosthetic System). This system includes a comprehensive technique for impressions, record taking, tooth selection, placement, fabrication and processing. By using BPS, the details of the impression, jaw registration and tooth are set up precisely and persevered for the final denture—meaning less return visits and enhancing patient comfort. Ultimately, a premium denture results in less time spent in the chair, reduced signs of premature aging, restores suction, prevents ‘hotspots’ (which are caused by ill-fitted dentures), and provides the patient with the most natural and aesthetically pleasing smile possible.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the surrounding gums. There are two types of dentures available—complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. You may be given an immediate denture, which is inserted immediately after extractions to avoid being without teeth. Immediate dentures are often a temporary solution to your allow gums to heal before a more permanent denture can be fitted.
Dentures don’t last forever. Your denture is likely to last eight to ten years, requiring a reline every three to four years. Over time, your denture will become worn and won’t fit as well, so it’s important to reline it regularly. The better you follow your denture care instructions, the longer your replacement teeth will last.
